Every channel needs advertising revenue so that means more eyeballs and that means more sensation and that means truth be damned and that means you don't get sued on TV anyway so that means you can kick around the facts and change them unlike the written words which has staying power and does not vanish into the ether and that means your anchors who don't collectively have a soupcon of knowledge can cook up the story as they ramble on and what the heck, it is high drama and the ratings are up.
