The word 'ponce' is one I use for a man risibly and unintentionally conveying the impression of being a pimp--through dress or manner or talk--someone of the type one can easily spot in a mall or a parking lot near a roadside night eatery. But "ponce about" or "ponce around", for fooling or lazing about, is idiomatic English that has to sink in completely in the psyche to flow out as naturally as it does in your prose. Bravo! The minister who had the guts to call economy 'cattle class'? Or the fact that the economisation of the economy class is now a shout rather than the hushed talk it used to be? A minister is a representative for the people, and I believe Tharoor is representing all of us just fine in calling out the pathetic condition of economy class.
